Cloverdale is at the north end of Sonoma County's 101 corridor. It's about forty minutes north of Santa Rosa and is home to many commuters who prefer the slighly lower housing prices and more rural feel available in Cloverdale. A flood of investors in recent years drove residential prices higher than local wages would suggest, and the market is currently adjusting to sluggish demand. The town itself is now bypassed by Highway 101 and the same transition forces that helped Healdsburg regain a sense of twon after the highway left town 40 years ago are at work in Cloverdale. In addition to the compact core of the town, there are numerous high end homes dotting the hillsides outside of town.
